The illegal export of 15 books of cultural value from the territory of the Eurasian economic Union was prevented by Grodno customs officers at the checkpoint «Berestovica».
Old books were moved by a Polish citizen, who was traveling as a passenger in a passenger car without a corresponding permission to export such a category of goods. The man said that he does not move goods that are subject to mandatory declaration, but during customs control, 15 books published in Warsaw, Polotsk and St. Petersburg in the early XIX and XX centuries were found in his luggage. The earliest edition is dated 1822.
According to the results of the examination of the Customs laboratory, the discovered books are cultural value, which means that they can be moved from the territory of the EAEU only if there are permits.
An administrative process has been initiated against a citizen of the Republic of Poland in accordance with part 1 of article 14.5 of the administrative Code of the Republic of Belarus. The books have been seized.
